Meet the Trainers

LYN SERES is our Senior, Lead Trainer. MTI’s National Teacher Training program was developed via Lyn’s vision and ideals. Lyn’s teaching strengths include Teacher Training, Behavioral Intervention, Motivational Speaking and Educational Assessment Teambuilding. Lyn holds a Masters in Special Education and a Certification in Training and Development. Lyn is a cornerstone of our company and brings to the team a level of excitement and motivation that touches everyone she meets.

KIM BROWN has been working with the MTI team since 2003. She completed her BA in Elementary Education and has invested post graduate time in special education and literacy coursework. Kim worked as an elementary school teacher for sixteen years and now conducts private tutoring in various remedial methodologies including Lindamood-Bell™ Learning Processes and Orton-Gillingham. When Kim isn’t working she enjoys spending time with her daughter, Kyra, whom she and her husband adopted from China. Kim is also versed in traditional Appalachian clogging, a rare art form the members of MTI have been fortunate enough to experience.

SHANNON GORMLEY has been a member of MTI since 2002. Shannon recently completed her PHD in Special Education and is currently a Professor of Exceptional Education at Buffalo State College. She also holds a Master’s in Speech Pathology and a BS in Education of Speech & Hearing Handicapped. Shannon served as a full time speech pathologist in Colorado’s public school system for over six years. She was recently elected Board Secretary for the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Learning Disabilities. According to Shannon she likes to use her knowledge of phonemic awareness to lip read and eavesdrop on people when dining out!

JENNIFER LEAUBY holds a Masters in Communicative Disorders. She has been trained is various methodologies, including Understanding Social-Cognitive Deficits Across the School and Home Day, Lindamood-Bell™ Learning Processes and Project Read. She is an active member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. When not training, Jenn can be found running, reading, or visiting her newborn niece, Mia - making her the most phonemically aware infant in the U.S.!!! Baby Mia can babble the vowel circle.

KIM NORTHGARD-FOWEE is currently working in Fairfield City Schools, Ohio as an Intervention Specialist.  Kim is certified to teach general education and holds a Masters in Teaching and Learning. Kim has been teaching in public education for twelve years. Prior to working in public schools, she instructed pre-schoolers for seven years.   Well-versed in the implementation of the Alternative School Setting for at risk students, Kim has been nominated Teacher of the Year and is a recipient of the Golden Apple Award.  Kim enjoys learning, as much as she does teaching.  Fond of singing, dancing and playing in the garden, Kim loves getting down in the dirt!  Spending time with family is Kim’s favorite activity.

HEATHER WHITE has owned her own tutoring company, BrainBuilders Tutoring, for over ten years now, providing educational consulting that has helped thousands of students. She holds an M.S.Ed. in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders as well as a Bachelors in Psychology and a certificate in Special Education. She is trained in numerous methodologies including, Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes™ and Orton-Gillingham. Heather has trained with MTI since 2002. When she isn’t training, Heather enjoys spending time with her daughter and ballroom dancing with her husband.

DEE WILMANS has just joined the MTI team in 2007.  She holds a bachelor's of education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  She has thirteen years of teaching experience in elementary classrooms including one year in Austin, Texas, where she acquired her love of Tex Mex food.  She currently teaches first grade in Fairfield City Schools, Ohio where she has been a member of the LiPS® support team for the past three years.  When she isn't in the classroom she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, Ally and C.J.  Both her own children and those in her classroom keep her busy with their infinite energy.

Meet the rest of MTI’s Staff:

JADE CARREL is our Business Manager. Jade holds a BA in Philosophy and has completed graduate work in accounting and organizational behavior. Jade keeps the MTI ship on its course. When she isn’t steering our path, Jade enjoys keeping busy with her family and designing jewelry.

MIKE CONWAY is our Marketing & Administrative Coordinator. Mike holds a Bachelors in Communications from Hampshire College. Out of the office, Mike enjoys spending time with his children Cecilia and Jack.

GEORGE MALLOY is the President of the Stratford Foundation, the nonprofit educational foundation that funds MTI. George holds a Masters in Business Administration. He founded MTI back in 2000, but has been running the Stratford Foundation for over twenty years. When not working, George enjoys tennis and spending time with his grandchildren.

DAVE SCHELL is MTI’s Administrator of Special Programs and has been with the MTI team since its beginning. A certified NY State Teacher, Dave was a Political Science teacher for over sixteen years. Dave’s expertise has helped to bring MTI’s workshops to numerous school districts in need. When not working, Dave can be seen flying high trying to get airtime towards maintaining his pilot’s license.
